Happiness is on the road!

15 Jun 15. Travel from KL, Malaysia to Jakarta, Indonesia

Our flight was at 18:55 pm, so we had quite a lot of time during the day. We decided to travel to KL Centre to understand how the public transport system worked.

For Vietnamese, the MRT/LRT seems quite complicated.

MRT – You will purchase for the electric coin (similar as ticket) from the selling machine. To go inside the station, you will put the coin to scan at the entrance. Be noted that there are some lines to go in and some lines to go out, so do not scan the exit lines.

LRT – You will purchase for the bill from the selling counter. There might not have the staff to check you at the entrance, but there have one at the destination exit. So do buy a ticket if you do not want to be penalized.

It is my advice to have off-line pictures of MRT/LRT, which you could easy find by searching google with keyword: MRT/LRT off-line map in KL.

Our Malaysia friend, Roshann traveled with us to KLCC, then we would go out and discover ourselves. Our plan changed differently as it was really hard to travel with all of our luggage (mine is 22 kg and my girlfriend is 10 kg). So we decided to stop at Starbucks nearby KLCC to relax, and it was the area which we could use free WIFI.

Time flew so fast, it was a time we had to go to Airport. We took MRT from KLCC to KL Sentral, then the bus directly to our airport KLIA 2. The flight took us 2 hours, however as KL GMT +8 and Jakarta GMT +7 (similar to Viet Nam), so it was like one hour flight. We got Jakarta at 20:00 pm.

We came and exchanged our money at airport. You are better to exchange USD to IDR here rather than at Viet Nam as they have better rate for USD. From the airport, we took the bus to Blok M then taxi to our host house, Sego et Jean Paul Monnet. The traffic from airport to center was quite JAM even in the late afternoon. We got to our host house area almost mid-night.

Did not buy SIMCARD at Jakarta as it was quite expensive compared to normally price. It is better that you have local SIMCARD as soon as possible, so you could call to your host for any helps if need. It was late night so no shop had still opened. We received the help from one local to call to my host as we could not find the house.

We was so happy to see Jean Paul. They gave us our private room with basic condition (bed/ fan), it was too far from our expectation. They even cooked the traditional Indonesia dishes in advance for us. It was just boiled rice and green sauce, but very delicious.

We was really tired for long travelling day, so after taking a bath, we went straight to the bed.
